What is Polished Concrete
The process of polishing concrete involves grinding the concrete with progressively finer grinding tools. The grinding tools are normally progressive grits of diamond cup whools and diamond polishing pads. The levels of polishing finish can be dull using a 400 grit, satin, using a an 800 to 1500 grit and high gloss when using a 3000 grit. It works very much as sandpaper in wood. Sealants, dyes or stains are often applied to increase the brilliance and protect the concrete surface.
This flooring finish is one of the most popular flooring options that does not involve wax, yet leaves a reflective, polished look. Concrete polish has become one of the most preferred concrete flooring options on the market for consumers.
